Step 4: Select the appropriate report options

Some or all of the options that may be available to you:

Option Description
Date range Select from pre-defined date ranges or input a custom date range for the report. For some reports this is pre-determined.
Report format Export your report to PDF or Excel. Not all formats are available for all reports.
Type

Select from the following options:

  • Summary - This provides a snapshot of key elements of the report using graphical elements and tables
  • Detail - This provides the complete detail of the report, typically in table format
Summary and Detail - Both will appear in a single document
Consolidate If two or more accounts are selected, this option will be available for a report that supports consolidation (blue dot). Select if you want to consolidate the account data into a single report or have them as separate reports.
Report accounting method

If a report supports alternative accounting methods, this option will be available. Select if you want the figures in the report to be either:

  • Income receivable basis - Figures in this report for periods ending 30 June on a receivable basis. All other income (including dividend income) is captured on a cash receipt basis.
  • Cash receipt basis - Reports all income based on the date the income is received in cash, regardless of when it was earned.
Type of asset allocation

This option is only available for selected reports, such as the Account snapshot report. Select if you want the figures in the report to be either:

  • Actual asset allocation: 'Actual' asset allocations are based on the single asset class assigned to each asset as determined by Netwealth, with the full allocation for multi-sector assets captured in the Multi-sector asset class
  • Underlying (look-through): 'Underlying' asset allocations for managed funds are based on a look-through to the asset classes of their underlying holdings.

Advanced tip: Consolidation of account data where multiple accounts have been selected is an option for the following reports

  • Account Snapshot
  • Asset Performance Detail Report
  • Portfolio Performance Report
  • Portfolio Valuation Report

Step 5: Submit your report

Click 'Submit' and your report will download automatically. You will find it in the downloads folder on your computer. If you are using a mobile device, the report will pop up into a new browser tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

No - the Asset Performance report will return the performance of assets from when they are transferred (using the ‘transfer-in date’ pricing) into the Netwealth account.

For portfolio % returns:

Superannuation accounts - returns include the effect of taxes and tax benefits relating to income, expenses, franking/imputation credits and realised gains and losses during the reporting period. The return calculation does not include a provision for tax on unrealised gains and losses for assets held at the start or end of the reporting period.

Wrap Service accounts - Returns only include the impact of income tax for investors who have not provided a Tax File Number, and for investors who have declared they are non-residents for tax purposes.

The Asset Performance report displays the amount of interest earned in the cash account during the period, based on the rate specified on our website (currently the RBA Cash Rate less 50 bps). An IRR % return for the cash account is not provided due to the size and volume of cash flows that can occur.

'Underlying' asset allocations for managed funds are based on a look-through to the asset classes of their underlying holdings. This is determined from the asset allocation data provided at the end of each month by Morningstar, or sourced directly from fund managers. The asset allocations of managed funds on dates between month-ends may differ from these figures due to market movements or changes made by the fund managers. Underlying asset allocations for all other types of assets are based on a single asset class as determined by Netwealth.

Portfolio balances for clients holding managed funds may temporarily be lower than expected in reports generated with an end date later than 30 June 2019. This is generally due to timing differences, where fund managers have adjusted official unit prices prior to forwarding 30 June distribution payments to Netwealth. By the end of July, Netwealth expects to have received and processed the majority of 30 June distributions. During this post-distribution period there may also be delays in some fund managers confirming purchase and redemption requests.
