About Hamish

Hamish Hockley is a Director of Opex Consulting, a fintech company focussed on helping an AFSL meet their licensee obligations and simplify their operations through better use of technology.

Following graduation from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Economics, Hamish began employment as a Para-Planner. He also gained his DFP whilst working for various dealer groups across a range of licensee services including investment research, compliance & practice development. He founded Opex Consulting to assist financial planning practices embrace technology more and improve their operational efficiency (hence the name “Opex”).

He has 25 years of experience in the industry working with many institutions, national dealer groups and single AFSL holders. His current focus is attempting to dramatically reduce the time and cost of the advice generation process by introducing a fresh approach to advice construction.

The Key Client Manager of Opex Consulting, Shane Kirsch oversees core relationships, leads the client success team, and manages key service functions.

Shane’s career is where technology, people and financial services intersect, having spent over 25 years leading teams across Australia’s largest banking and wealth institutions. He has driven NAB’s strategy for banking professional services businesses, as well as supporting financial planning licensees within the MLC Group.

In the complex, ever-changing world of financial services, Shane leverages his growth mindset and people-centric philosophy to empower Opex’s clients.
